The Capitals are looking to knock off the Toronto Maple Leafs in their own backyard. After going into overtime on Friday, the Washington team improved their score in the best of seven series. The Capitals are currently 3-2 in the round 1, which means one more victory will eliminate Toronto from the playoffs.
Can the Maple Leafs rally back? They’ll certainly have the home crowd advantage. But that may not be enough to stop the invading Capitals.
Washington’s Alex Ovechkin is expected to compete during tonight’s game. The star left-winger was hit on the left knee by a low hip check from Toronto’s Nazem Kadri, late into the first period of Game 5. Ovechhin came back for the second period and finished the rest of the game.
Are you sure Alex Ovechkin will make tonight’s game? Just ask Capitals coach Barry Trotz. “He was re-evaluated again after the game,” said Trotz in a conference call Saturday. “He’s fine and we expect him to be ready to go.”
If the Maple Leafs win tonight, then we’re going back to Washington for Game 7. But if the Leafs fall once again, there’s no getting up until next season.
