Special Education Teacher In Texas Arrested For Having Relationship With Middle Schooler


A 28-year-old Texas teacher has been arrested for allegedly engaging in a relationship with a student at her all-boys school.


What Happened?

Rebecca Goerdel, a special education for the Young Men’s Leadership Academy of Kennedy Middle School in Grand Prairie in Texas, has been arrested after school officials reported her to the police.
Administrators claimed Goerdel engaged in an “inappropriate relationship” with a student at the school.
The school said they were notified on March 10 of “an alleged improper relationship” between Goerdel and a student. Authorities say she was “relieved of all duties” immediately and has not returned to the classroom since. The school also alerted police that same day and they have been investigating Goerdel since.
Dr. Susan Hull, Grand Prairie ISD superintendent, released the following statement:


The Dallas News reports that Goerdel previously pled guilty to driving while intoxicated.
