One student was taken to the hospital after being stabbed by a classmate Tuesday morning at Chamberlain High School in Tampa, Florida.
A Tampa Police Department spokesperson said that one female student stabbed another female student. The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The stabbing took place in the hallway between classes. According to a TPD spokesperson, two 15-year-old girls got into a fight when one of them pulled out a knife.
“This was an isolated incident between these two students,” Hillsborough County School District Spokesperson Tanya Arja said. Several students saw the fight and attempted to break it up.
“You don’t really want students to risk their own safety…they saw a need to help, a need to step in,” Arja said.
Arja noted that the students who helped to stop the fight will be rewarded or honored by the school’s principal in some capacity.
One of the girls involved in the fight is in custody.
