Two basketball powerhouses are facing off in the South Regional final, as the (1) North Carolina Tar Heels will take on the (2) Kentucky Wildcats for a trip to the Final Four. North Carolina has previously gone to the Final Four 19 times, while Kentucky has made it there on 17 occasions. Both teams have made it to the Final Four extremely recently, with North Carolina going in 2016 and Kentucky in 2015.
While there’s been plenty of chaos in this year’s NCAA Tournament, the South Region has been mostly chalk. The Tar Heels haven’t faced much resistance in making it to the Elite Eight, beating (16) Texas Southern 103-64, (8) Arkansas 72-65, and (4) Butler 92-80. The Wildcats got a scare in the round of 32, but they’ve been pretty dominant for the most part in victories over (15) Northern Kentucky 79-70, (10) Wichita State 65-62, and (3) UCLA 86-75.
