The Philadelphia Police Department says a suspicious package prompted evacuations near the Temple College of Engineering at 12th and Norris Streets. As a precaution, authorities have evacuated the surrounding area while the police bomb squad investigates.
According to NBC, no injuries were reported as about 300 students and staff evacuated from the engineering building. Police found two devices around 9:00 A.M. EST: one was a 4×4 wrapped package with orange and red wires exposed found on a loading dock and the other found inside a trash truck.
Furthermore, according to Philly Voice, Temple spokesman Brandon Lausch said the bomb squad had the area cleared by 10:30 A.M. EST and that one of the packages was detonated as a precaution. Lausch also said that one of the packages was found by the university’s housekeeping staff.
