Chelsea and Manchester United face off today in one of the marquee matchups of the ninth week of the 2016 Premier League season. Both teams came into the 2016-17 season with new management — Chelsea hired former Italian national boss Antonio Conte, while Manchester United hired Chelsea’s former manager, Jose Mourinho. The 2016–17 Premier League is the 25th season of the Premier League, the top English professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1992. The season began August 13, 2016, and will last until May 21, 2017. Leicester City are the defending champions, with Burnley, Middlesbrough, and Hull City being promoted from the Football League Championship. Rounding out the top four from last season are Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester City.
Manchester United, who currently sit in 7th place with 14 points, are coming off of an embarrassing 0-0 draw with Liverpool last Monday. Chelsea, who are in 5th with 16 points, are coming off a 3-0 throttling of defending champion Leicester City. With the season heading into it’s middle stages, every win against a quality opponent will go a long way.
