PATH Train tweeted this morning that the incident happened at the NJ Transit station and that the Lackawanna entrance connecting NJT Rail to PATH is currently closed. Injuries are unclear at this time, except NBC says the Hoboken police chief told NBC’s Brian Thompson that there are “mass casualties.” Pictures on social media show extensive structural damage to the train station. It is now being reported at least 3 are dead & 100+ injured, multiple in critical condition.

The cause of the accident was not immediately clear, though the Hoboken police chief told NBC New York there were “mass casualties.” Fire officials said they were investigating the crash as a possible derailment.
Several people who were on the train tweeted they felt “lucky to be alive.”
Passenger Bhagyesh Shah said he boarded the train at Secaucus. He said he normally stands near the window, but stood in the back of the train Thursday.
“The next thing I know, we are plowing through the platform,” Shah said. “It was for a couple seconds, but it felt like an eternity.”
Scary stuff out of New Jersey. I live in Hoboken and have multiple friends who use this station.
