WWE Backlash has finally returned! For the first time since 2009, WWE will be hosting a Backlash event. WWE Backlash is tonight’s professional wrestling pay-per-view event and WWE Network event. It is taking place at theRichmond Coliseum in Richmond, Virginia. It will be the twelfth event in the Backlash chronology, and the first since 2009. This is the first SmackDown branded event following the company’s second ever brand split in July 2016. Backlash will determine the inaugural champions in SmackDown’s Women’sand Tag Team divisions.
With four of six matches being championship matches, new champions are sure to be crowned. A successful night will show that Smackdown is capable of carrying its own weight since moving to Tuesday nights.
The rising AJ Styles will battle fan-favorite Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Championship, and The Miz‘s will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Dolph Ziggler.
