Batman v. Superman is about to take over the box office and launch an official Spring film season — which means that the studios have us already looking forward to summer. It’s been a busy week with an amazing new X-Men: Apocalypse trailer, plus a red-band look at Sausage Party, along with Kevin Hart and The Rock in Central Intelligence.
But there are also a few more movies that sneaked past us on the sneak-peek front — so catch up now with some other films that deserve some early looks…
Ben-Hur
We know that this is just a CGI-filled attempt to cash in on the Christian-movie market with a remake of the 1959 Charlton Heston classic about a nobleman who survives years of slavery to take vengeance on his best friend before getting forgiven by Jesus. But this trailer sure sells the movie as Rollerball in ancient times, and we’re kind of interested in seeing chariot-racing mayhem on a major scale. Also, lots of folks are making jokes about Morgan Freeman looking like a Predator. We think he’s closer to something out of Battlefield Earth….

Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children
On paper, this seems like yet another tweener epic about very special children, and we’re all sick of those. But in this trailer, it looks like Tim Burton is really getting to indulge himself in a lot of fun ways. We’re also reminded of The Vampire’s Apprentice, which was a good film that deserved more attention. Hopefully, this one won’t get too precious. Also, it brings Eva Green back to the big screen, and that’s important…..

Countdown
The good news is that WWE is still making movies — but, sadly, Kane and Dolph Ziggler will be premiering on the small screen when they show up in “Countdown.” The good news is that we’re finally getting a WWE cop actioner that brings the good guys to a WWE event for some real meta weirdness. Now we’re just expecting John Cena to show up at the end and kick everyone’s ass…

Dead 7
And here’s a new zombie film where the Syfy Channel tries something new — and we’ll see if you can guess by noting that Buzzfeed got to debut the trailer. Okay, give up? This western-styled zombie epic stars old boy-band stars! Actually, that might be really clever. It beats sitting through another CGI monster, at least. Nick Carter, A.J. McLean, Howie Dorough (all of Backstreet Boys), Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick (of *NSYNC), plus Jeff Timmons of 98 Degrees and some guy from O-Town all appear. And there’s a samurai, but the producers probably think it’s a ninja. Debuting April 1st, but it’s no joke…
