Fetty Wap seemingly came out of nowhere in 2015, bursting onto the scene with hit single after hit single, but how much could he have earned in just one year, and what is Fetty Wap’s net worth right now?
Fetty Wap’s Net Worth as of 2019: $4 million
Fetty Wap, born Willie Maxwell, is an American rapper from Paterson, New Jersey. He is best known for his 2014 hit single “Trap Queen”, which peaked at number 2 on the United States Billboard Hot 100 in May 2015, followed by the top 10 singles “679” and “My Way”. Initially starting off as only a rapper, he later decided to start singing, simply because he “wanted to do something different”. As for his unique stage name, the nickname “Fetty” which is slang for money, was given to him as he was known in Paterson for making money. As for the “Wap” in Fetty Wap, it serves as a tribute to his favorite rapper, Gucci Mane. Famously, when he was a child, Fetty Wap developed glaucoma in both eyes. He revealed in a 2015 interview that doctors were unable to save his left eye and instead fitted him with an ocular prosthesis. On top of everything, when asked how long he has been rapping, Fetty Wap has said it’s only been “a couple of years now”.
But how did a one-eyed Jersey-born rapper with a strangely unique singing voice become such a phenomena? Let’s take a look.

He became the first male rapper with three songs occupying the top 20 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 chart since Eminem did so in 2013. He also became the first male rapper in four years to have concurrent singles reach the top 10 of the same chart since Lil Wayne did so in 2011. With his fourth single “Again”, Wap became the first act in the Hot Rap Songs chart’s 26-year history to chart his first four entries in the top 10 simultaneously.

2016-2017
Fetty Wap saw even more success in 2016 earning huge features on popular songs, releasing new singles and gaining even more lucrative business opportunities.
In 2016, Fetty Wap was featured on a popular Fifth Harmony song, “Flex” and also began the process of developing a street racing app, making deals with major car companies to have their brands represented in the game’s virtual races and trials.
Fetty Wap also became a father again, having a daughter with Love & Hip Hop Hollywood‘s Masika Kalysha.
With such a meteoric rise in such a short span of time, it will be hard for Fetty Wap to continue to have this level of success. However, as Fetty Wap has proved time and time again, he is more than capable of beating the odds. With a unique sound that crosses over into the mainstream, as well as a growing respect from the hip hop community, Fetty Wap’s popularity, and net worth, seems set to increase steadily over the next couple of years.
