There’s a big bike race in Belgium that’s called the Tour of Flanders–and it’s going pretty well, except for the service cars that keep running into the bicyclists. For those who aren’t all international like we are, a “service car” runs along the race track to provide spare bicycles or wheels, if they’re ever needed.
What’s mostly needed today are some medics, because the service car guys are crashing into bicyclists and each other today. The first sighting was right here, which quickly became a big deal out of Germany….

And then it happened again–as in some poor color commentator having to say, “Not again!” This time is even weirder, because sometimes a service car (although always neutral) is there for a sponsored rider, and this one takes out the guy that he’s there to support…

Damn, these European bike races are turning into Fury Road. The good news is that nobody has been really injured, and the day has been over for a while over in Europe, so maybe they’re done running over bicyclists. We suddenly feel safer biking in NYC, though.
