"In The Heart of the Sea" Trailer: "Jaws" Meets "Moby Dick" [VIDEO]

Ron Howard seems to be helming an epic tale with In the Heart of the Sea–which is officially about Chris Hemsworth as a salty young captain whose crew runs afoul of a murderous whale that messes up their ship. It’s based on the story that influenced Moby Dick, but sure looks like Jaws. The good news is that In the Heart of the Sea looks way better than 1977’s Orca: The Killer Whale, which was a memorably bad attempt to rip off Jaws with another whale of a tale.
Also, we’ll all look back at Ron Howard’s work as a director someday and see that his best films have always been about men at work. That goes from the ’80s comedy Gung Ho to the big hit Apollo 13 to last year’s underseen Rush–which also starred Hemsworth as a pioneering race car driver. That’s another good reason to get excited about In the Heart of the Sea, although this trailer has plenty of amazing moments that should also sell you on the film. (We’d already put Heart on our list of the Most Anticipated Movies of 2014, of course.)
Also, unlike with the trailer for Blackhat, Chris Hemsworth can rest assured that we don’t get any awkward references to a big hammer…..
