Well, file this one under Worse Than Ebola: A bunch of eggheads have gotten together at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to create a smarter kind of mouse. Meddling scientists Christiane Schreiweis and Ann Graybiel just couldn’t be happy with regular mice, so they did some genetic engineering and loaded up the mice with a touch of human Foxp2–which, you know, is only a gene linked to speech and language.
We’re not sure what these deep thinkers are expecting to come out of mice with human intelligence, but we’ve seen Pinky and the Brain, and it’s obvious that nobody at MIT was smart enough to think about how things would’ve gone if Pinky hadn’t been there to keep the Brain from taking over the world.
Do you think those MIT types considered creating a dopier sidekick for their ingenious mice? No, they did not, even though there are Pinky and the Brain compilation videos showcasing the important of that kind of thing….

So there’s some really bad news to take around today. Thanks, Dr. Mayhem and Dr. Destructo. We can only hope that the mice take some gruesome revenge on their captors before taking over the rest of the planet–when we will bravely take up arms and help the mice kill all of you troublesome humans who don’t appreciate the wisdom of living under the Superior Way of the Mice, and now we’re set up pretty good if the mice ever do a Google search on us.
