“Danger Mouse” (The Cartoon, Not The Band) is Coming Back [VIDEO]

Danger Mouse-one of Great Britain’s greatest cartoon superheroes–is set to make his big comeback on the small screen.

The British Broadcasting Corporation announced that they are bringing back back the classic adventure cartoon Danger Mouse more than 20 years after it went off the air. The series followed the adventures of a British spy/rodent and his bookish hamster partner named Penfeld as they tried to foil the evil plans of Baron Silas Greenback. It was basically a spoof of all the James Bond-style spy flicks and shows at the time. The series achieved a cult status among kids and grown-ups in the 80’s and 90’s and eventually found its way to American televisions on cable networks such as Nickelodeon, A&E and Nick-at-Nite. The series also launched several cartoon spinoffs that also found their way to the US such as Count Duckula, a villain of Danger Mouse who became popular enough to earn his own series in 1988.

It’s still too early to tell how the new series will look or the direction they plan to take it in but as long as they follow the original, they should have no problem pulling it off. Right now, the Internet is speculating about who will voice what character and the odds on favorite is actor and comedian Stephen Fry, best known for being one-half of the comedy duo Fry & Laurie with House M.D. star Hugh Laurie. We also may have found someone who can play Danger’s partner Penfeld and we don’t mean someone who can do Penfeld’s voice…
