The PS4's "The Order: 1886" Gets a 2015 Release Date [VIDEO]

The Order: 1886, Sony’s steampunk style shooter that caught some serious buzz during last week’s E3 Entertainment Expo, finally has an official release date.
Sony announced on the PlayStation website that  The Order: 1886 will be released on Feb. 20, 2015 exclusively for the PS4. The third person shooter built by the developer Ready At Dawn caught gamers by surprise at E3. It was announced almost a year ago but fell under the radar for awhile until it made an appearance at the big show and blew gamers’ faces off by offering an eclectic mix of strategy, shooting and supernatural story elements. The game tells the story of a long lineage of English warriors that date back to the days of King Arthur when his Knights of the Round Table secretly lead an underground war against a strange breed of werewolves. The man-wolf hybrids are almost impossible to kill so the two continue their war until the advent of the Industrial Revolution when new technologies gives the Knights’ newer generations of fighters the kind of badass hardware they need to put the wolves down once and for all…

It’s this weird mix of historical fiction and horror elements that we love about the game so much. You rarely see this level of detail and style in a game without it trying to be overtly funny or a parody of history or certain styles of games. Of course, the game already had us at “shooting steampunk weapons at werewolves” but the story is just the icing on an already delicious looking cake.
