Certain athletes act certain ways when faced with taunts. Some of them really do it in style Consider this video of Barcelona defender Dani Alves, who had a banana thrown at him on Sunday during a Spanish Primera Division game against Villarreal. Alves picks up the banana, peels it, and eats the thing before taking a corner kick.
That’s probably one of the best ways to handle the situation. It isn’t the first time something like this has happened, though. During a match in January 2013, Alves was taunted with monkey chants throughout the match against Real Madrid. Seriously, folks, there’s no excuse for that kind of thing. The good news is that Alves (and Barcelona) came back for a 3-2 win on Sunday. That probably didn’t make the hometown crowd real happy, but consider it a win over racism.
