The legendary Gene Wilder passed away yesterday, causing the entire planet to recall their favorite Wilder moments and movies. Between Young Frankenstein, Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, Silver Streak, and Stir Crazy, Wilder has appeared in some of the funniest movies of all time. Maybe the funniest of his films, though, is none other than Blazing Saddles.
Blazing Saddles, the classic Mel Brooks comedy, was released 42 years ago, which is long before most of the people reading this were born. The world in 1974 was far, far different than it is today, and thus, so was the social climate.
The fact of the matter is a truly hilarious, yet wildly offensive movie like Blazing Saddles could not be made today. With Wilder’s passing, we decided to look back on Blazing Saddles and decide which 5 jokes definitely would not fly in 2016.
