So, this is weird.
A severed pig’s head was found in a toilet next to a Muslim prayer room in University of Western Australia’s Nedlands campus this past weekend, and students are pretty freaked out about it.
Majdi Faleh, a PhD student from Tunisia, found it left inside a traditional toilet – known as a Turkish, Muslim or Arabic toilet – while preparing for his daily prayers.
According to an ABC affiliate, the student felt threatened.
“The first feeling was the feeling of someone who’s being threatened. I didn’t expect to see that,” Mr Faleh said.
“It was not the best start to the day,” he said.
“It’s not because it was a pig’s head – it can be anything, any other animal – it was the message that was clear.
“There clearly is motivation of these people trying to say you’re not welcome here, or some similar message.
“The fact that it happened at university, that’s really degrading and really shocking to me.”

The college condemned the act, calling it “deplorable” and an “unprecedented display of Islamophobia.” The matter has since been reported to police.
Muslim Youth WA president Shameema Kolia believes it to be another example of Muslims being targeted because of recent world affairs, like the attacks in Paris last month.
“Events happen on the world stage, and then we see the consequences here on the local level here in Perth,” she explained. “We’re grieving for the loss of human life, but before you can even get through and process that, you’re already expected to condemn what happened, answer for the actions of people you have no idea about. It has nothing to do with what your religion actually teaches. And then you’ve got to face the abuse of it on the streets.”
I second that. With everything going on in the world, is it really necessary to target INNOCENT people just because of their faith? Sounds a bit ignorant and irresponsible, don’t you think? Not to mention – THAT POOR PIG!!!!
The culprit should be severely punished.
