It seems that more and more NFL players are playing fantasy football while continuing to be on the field themselves. For New York Giants tight end Larry Donnell, his overthinking of his team’s roster cost him a win because of one simple decision. He benched himself before having a three-touchdown night last Thursday against the Washington Redskins. [photo: Alex Goodlett/Getty]
Donnell put himself on the bench in favor of Vernon Davis. He told The Record that he will be putting himself in the starting lineup this week. It is just interesting that any player who can control to a point how their fantasy team does would bench themselves. Donnell probably didn’t expect to have seven catches and the three touchdowns but he needed to leave himself in the lineup.
It is a lesson learned for the young tight end, who has at least five catches in every one of the Giants’ games this season so far. Sunday will likely not be any different for Donnell’s offensive numbers and like every other fantasy owner who has Donnell on their roster, he will be in the Week 5 lineup. Another big day could be coming.
