Carlos Takam and Jerry Forrest take center stage on Thursday night as Top Rank Boxing continues its Summer Series at the MGM Grand Conference Center Grand Ballroom in Las Vegas, Nevada live on ESPN.
Takam (38-5-1, 28 KOs) enters the fight as a slight favorite and has experience against top heavyweights like Anthony Joshua and Dereck Chisora, while Forrest (26-3, 20 KO) was initially preparing to face Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller before a positive test for performance-enhancing drugs popped up leading up to the fight.
“We’re punching people in the head here,” Forrest told BoxingScene about Miller’s positive test. “This isn’t a scandal. This is real life, attempted murder. You can kill someone with a blow to the head. If you’re on a PED and you’re giving someone a blow to the head, that is attempted murder. You’re using a foreign [substance] in a combat sport. To me, that’s unacceptable. I can never accept that.”
