Brien Basarich, a 31-year-old stripper from Lakeland, Florida, has been charged with threatening a mass shooting after she posted about her homicidal thoughts on the social media platform Tumblr under the username “taking-lives”.
According to Basarich’s arrest affidavit, Basarich — who worked as an exotic dancer at Showgirls Men’s Club in Plant City, Florida — said she had a vision of “a bar or club with only one entrance and exit” and that had plans to purchase an AR-15 rifle “soonish.”
Basarich was arrested at her home in Lakeland, Florida, on Wednesday, January 2, and charged with making a written threat to kill or injure. She was then taken to Polk County Jai. She was then released on Thursday, January 3, after posting $5000 bond.
Lakeland Police Officer Colton Thompson said that when Basarich was asked why she had made the threats, she described herself as a “great admirer of serial killers and mass murderers.”
Additionally, Bay 9 News reports that Basarich said: “2019 had ‘a lot in store’ if her plans went smoothly.”
“I had a vision… of a very public place, only one way in and one way out. Preferably a bar/club on a busy night. 2019 has a lot in store if my plans go according!” the Tumblr post read.
“… A lot of us have urges, whether they will admit or not is the question. So yes, I have,” another Tumblr post of Basarich’s read, who was discussing her urge to kill.
At the time of this writing, it is not clear whether or not Basarich has obtained an attorney.
