This past Sunday, at least five people were reported dead after an airplane crashed at a CVS parking lot in Orange County, California. As previously reported, police confirmed that the five who lost their lives were passengers on the plane and people on the ground were not believed to have been hurt during the incident. The following Monday, officials released information concerning the identities of the five victims who lost their lives.
Navid Hakimi
According to ABC 7, one of the victims was identified as Navid Hakimi, who was 32 at their death.
Scott Shepherd
According to ABC 7, one of the victims was identified as Scott Shepherd, who was 53 at their death. Officials confirmed that Shepherd was the pilot of the twin-engine Cessna when it went down.
Lara Shepherd
According to ABC 7, one of the victims was identified as Lara Shepherd, who was 42 at their death. According to CBS Los Angeles, Scott and Lara were husband and wife.
Floria Hakimi
According to ABC 7, one of the victims was identified as Floria Hakimi, who was 62 at their death. According to CBS Los Angeles, Floria was the mother of Navid Hakimi, another victim who lost their life in the crash.
Nasim Ghanadan
According to ABC 7, one of the victims was identified as Nasim Ghanadan, who was 29 at their death.
What do we know so far?
According to ABC 7, there were no survivors on the plane. As mentioned above, it is believed that nobody on the ground near the plane during the time it crashed was injured during the incident.
According to CBS Los Angeles, Floria Hakimi, Nasim Ghanadan and Lara Shepherd was part of Bay Area real estate consulting firm Pacific Union, which issued the following statement in light of the news:
“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the news of this tragedy. Our entire Pacific Union family is mourning the loss of our colleagues, family and friends. We have suffered a tragic loss in Danville.”
Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Tony Bommarito also issued the following statement:
“I don’t know anything about what this pilot did, or what he was thinking, but it could have been much more tragic.”
“This was a Sunday afternoon and we have people shopping, so the fact that we have no injuries on the ground is a miracle in itself.”
According to ABC 7, One witness, identified as Alex Perkins, issued the following statement:
“I had seen the plane coming around and the first thought was, ‘Why is this plane so low? It’s way too low.'”
“It was coming around, banked left and then just dropped.”
At this time, the crash is believed to be under investigation.
