It was just a year ago around this time that Tar Heels fans were talking about making a BCS run. Those hopes and dream were destroyed in the first couple weeks of the season as UNC lost its entire offensive line to injury along with players in every level of the defense. Pair that along with inconsistent play from quarterbacks Chazz Surratt and Nathan Elliot and you get a three-win season. Head coach Larry Fedora knows injuries are not excuses and believes that his fill-in players have matured and grown, and even thinks his team could make a big come back in 2018. We think otherwise.

In a season that was derailed by a youth movement and a record-approaching amount of injuries, head coach Larry Fedora’s Tar Heels will look to get back on the map after just a three-win season a year. Question marks still remain over who will be the starting quarterback, however, the offensive will be a bright side in 2018 thanks to stud wide receiver Anthony Ratliff-Williams, who looks to be an All-American and an explosive group of running backs. The defensive issues will remain as there are question marks at every level thanks to injuries from a season ago. The weak ACC gives them the opportunity to bounce back in a big way as most of their conference games are winnable. However, UNC is still very young, and poor offensive line play will likely lead to another sub-five-win season.
