TV can do a lot of things, but the one things it continues to do is bring out the tears in all of our eyes. All the stories we have binged watched and connected with must sometimes come to an end. Or characters we have fallen in love with must say their goodbyes in a tearful final episode or a tragic death. There is never an easy way to say goodbye to anything, but it isn’t even the goodbye’s that get us. TV shows have an idea of pulling at our heartstrings with real-life emotional situations. Sometimes you don’t even realize you are crying until the show ends. I’m not crying your crying. Here are our top five saddest moments in TV history.

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air always found a way into our hearts, but this particular scene touches on the real world of Will. With kids who never grew up with a father, Will explains how he grew up just fine without his father around. But, after his rage at having fourteen birthdays without a simple card, learning to drive by himself, and promising that he would be a better father to his kids. He went on to ask the tearful questions, “how come he don’t want me, man?”. And by that point, if you aren’t crying you have no heart.
When Fry’s dog waited – Futurama

Cartoons usually don’t get that many tearful moments. But Futurama does just that, and the creators can bring the two most heartbreaking things and put it into one. Everyone loves dogs, and no one likes waiting. Fry’s dog, for 12 years, waits outside Panucci’s pizza place for Fry to come back while he was frozen until he died. That little time laps to his death are heartbreaking. You can feel your heart tearing into a million pieces watching Fry’s dog get old with every passing day. All you want to do is scream at Fry for not bringing his dog back to life. Of course, he remembers you! Excuse me while I grab a tissue.
When Marshall Loses His Father –How I Met Your Mother

Everyone’s worst nightmare is finding out their parents have died. In How I Met Your Mother that comes true for Marshall. Full of excitement to see Lily he doesn’t expect to face the news that will break his heart. The tears start when we hear Lily explain what has happened to his father. But the heartbreaking moment occurs when Marshall says “my dad’s dead?”. And that’s when the real tears fall.
Michael’s Last Dundies – The Office

The Office had a sad farewell to Steve Corel as Michael Scott. During the episode of Michael’s last dundies, he presented the final award in the meeting room. His coworkers surprised him with a song they reprised from Seasons of Love and turned it into 9,986,000 minutes all reminding him about his days at Dunder Mifflin. And to make it even sadder, Michael’s reaction is Steve Corel’s reaction to hearing this song. I’m going to need more tissues.
The Final Scene – Friends

After ten seasons of laughs and weird jokes, we had to say goodbye to friends. The heartbreak didn’t come when all six characters went their separate ways. It was the final scene of looking through the empty apartment. At the very end, we see all six keys’ each character left which was their goodbye from the show. Then we see the famous picture frame as the screen slowly fades to black with the emotional music in the background. It’s like you are saying goodbye to a part of your life.
