Yes, that Scooter Braun – the 44-year-old former talent manager who discovered Justin Bieber back in 2008 and later helped launch Ariana Grande into stardom. He’s the same controversial figure who purchased Taylor Swift’s master recordings – a move that inadvertently sparked Swift’s ambitious re-recording project (“Taylor’s Version”), which eventually led to The Eras Tour and Swift’s billionaire status.
When every entertainment outlet suddenly jumped on this story, I had to see what the fuss was about. So I checked what reputable sources were saying about this unexpected pairing.
In their exclusive report, PageSix claims Braun met Sweeney at Jeff Bezos’ Italian wedding and became “obsessed” with her. “It seems the pair have gotten together since the infamous Venice nuptials. But it’s not clear exactly how ‘serious’ she is about Braun.”
This sounds more like speculation than confirmation.
With even less certainty, PEOPLE reports: “Sydney Sweeney and Scooter Braun are ‘casually hooking up,’” according to their source. Another insider confirmed they’re seeing each other, while a third source added: “Everything is casual. She is living her life and working hard.”
The relationship doesn’t appear to be anything serious at this point. Despite Braun’s high-profile status in the industry, their connection seems quite new – and deliberately low-key.
TMZ has labeled it a “situationship,” citing “multiple sources with direct knowledge.” One source told them, “Sydney has just ended a relationship and she’s doing what women in their 20’s do — she’s dating.” That source also confirmed the casual nature of their connection.
Is There Still Hope?
If things are truly as casual as they sound, perhaps Sweeney’s admirers shouldn’t lose all hope. At 27, she’s significantly younger than the 44-year-old Braun. He is, however, reportedly worth billions – so you might need to work on your financial portfolio if you’re planning to compete.
Beyond this casual fling with Braun (which is essentially how it’s being described), Sweeney has faced some professional challenges lately. Following the American Eagle “Great Jeans” controversy, she experienced consecutive box office disappointments – Eden only generated $1M on its opening weekend, while Americana earned an estimated $500K.
