Under Armour continues its 150 years of college football celebration this month with the Boston College Eagles and Texas Tech Red Raiders. On Saturday, October 19, Boston College will wear uniforms inspired by the days of Eagles great Doug Flutie.
“The stripes on the sleeves and side panel of the gold pants pay homage to the uniform style and play of the 1980’s when “Hail-Flutie” – a 60-plus yard touchdown, from Doug Flutie to Gerard Phelan in 1984, the season Flutie won the Heisman Trophy – sealed an epic 47-45 win against the Miami Hurricanes, becoming a staple for college football highlight reels and an enduring moment in the annals of Boston College’s rich history,” Under Armour noted.
Also on Saturday, October 19, Texas Tech will wear their retro uniforms that feature the 1970s era Raider Red mascot when they welcome Iowa State to Lubbock.
“The Red Raiders will wear a bold and nostalgic Double T logo on their shell white helmets – worn by the 1974 Red Raiders squad – alongside the retro Raider Red mascot on the glove palms,” the press release reads. “The 1970s era throwback uniforms are a nod to the school’s former time in the Southwest Conference, when players who embodied the legacy of Texas Tech football were given red star helmet decals in recognition of outstanding on-field performance.”

The 13 programs that will be wearing the Heritage uniforms at some point during the 2019 college football season are: the Boston College Eagles, Cincinnati Bearcats, Colorado State Rams, Maryland Terrapins, Navy Midshipmen, Northwestern Wildcats, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, South Carolina Gamecocks, Temple Owls, Texas Tech Red Raiders, University of California-Berkeley Golden Bears, Utah Utes, and Wisconsin Badgers.
