Fortnite season 10 has come to an end and gamers have literally been left in the dark ahead of the launch of season 11. At the end of season 10, gamers watched the entire map disappear as they were left staring at a black hole. The Fortnite YouTube and Twitch accounts have also been live-streaming the black screen.
But what does all of this mean?
Well, with the upcoming season 11 release we know that Epic Games is pulling out all of the stops to ramp up a viral marketing campaign.
“Fortnite Season 10 is coming to an end, and all of this is hype for Season 11,” esports and gaming consultant Rod Breslau said, via CNN Business. “Instead of just the standard update approach that Epic does for Fortnite … which is going down for a few hours to apply an update, Epic has created an entire marketing and social media campaign, along with a narrative story around it.
“Epic Games are geniuses.”

With the widespread popularity of Fortnite, Epic Games wouldn’t have to do much to generate buzz and anticipation for the upcoming season, but this simple marketing strategy really is a great way to build up the hype rather than simply taking down the server for the update.
But just how long will gamers have to wait for Fortnite to return? We’ll just have to wait and see but let’s hope that the season 11 reveal lives up to the hype that Epic Games is building. And, quite frankly, we have no reason to believe it won’t.
Deleted social media posts. Inability to play the game. We've never seen something like this before — the closest parallel is probably Taylor Swift, who did something similar in 2017. https://t.co/RBdyYRPTNI
