WATCH: Jennifer Lopez & Shakira Discuss Super Bowl 54 Halftime Show

On Thursday, September 26, the National Football League announced its plans for the Super Bowl 54 halftime show in Miami. The announcement from the NFL revealed that Latina pop stars Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will be putting on the show for fans at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens on February 2, 2020.

During Thursday Night Football between the Philadelphia and Green Bay Packers, the league announced a brief interview with the two women who sat down together to discuss their plans. For both, it was an honor to be able to put their culture on center stage.

“I love that it’s in Miami,” Lopez said during the interview. “It is a very Latino town, and then they picked the two of us.

“I love that the Super Bowl has two women performing this year, that they have two Latinos performing this year. For me, it’s their 100th anniversary but it’s also the marker of a new time, not just for the NFL but for this country. [It] sends an important message to everyone.”

Shakira added: “I feel incredibly honored and humbled to be, in a way, next to J.Lo representing the Latino community that is such an important force in the United States.”

During Super Bowl 53 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, it was Maroon 5 which took center stage for the Pepsi Super Bowl halftime show. Throughout their performance, Maroon 5 was joined by rappers Big Boi and Travis Scott. We will see what Jennifer Lopez and Shakira have in store to top the halftime show from a year ago.

Super Bowl 54 will take place on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The championship game will air live on FOX with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman in the booth, while Erin Andrews, Kristina Pink, and Chris Myers provide updates from the sidelines.
