Bellator 225 took place Saturday, August 24 at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The event was headlined by a heavyweight bout between former The Ultimate Fighter contestant Matt Mitrione and Russian kickboxer Matt Mitrione. When it was all said and done, Kharitonov was able to land a heavy barrage of punches to score a second-round TKO over the TUF alum.
In the co-main event, Vitaly Minakov scored a clean knockout of Tim Johnson in the opening frame.
It was a night full of finishes for the fans in attendance and those watching at home, with all five main card bouts ending within the first two rounds. On the preliminary card, Notable wins came from undefeated prospect Austin Vanderford, who scored a TKO via doctor’s stoppage, and inspirational one-handed fighter Nick Newell, who choked out Corey Browning in the opening frame.
