LOOK: Alejandra Lara Brings Attention to Amazon Wildfires at Bellator 225 Weigh-ins

Bellator MMA fighter Alejandra Lara used her platform at the Bellator 225 ceremonial weigh-ins on Friday, August 23 to bring attention to the environmental rises going on in the Amazon rainforest. For more than two weeks, the Amazon rainforest has been on fire with reports that the fires are intentionally being set to clear room for ranches and other non-forest use.

Lara came out wearing facepaint and had various messages and hashtags inscribed on her body.

The body paint and messages across Lara’s body read “STOP DEFORESTATION”, “#SOSAmazonia”, “Our lungs are on fire!”, “RESPECT NATURE”, “RESPECT ANIMALS”, “WE ARE IN DANGER OF EXTINCTION”, and “salva la selva” which translates from Spanish to “save the jungle.

Lara is set to take on Taylor Turner on Saturday, August 24 as part of the Bellator 225 at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
