Lil Uzi Vert Promises to Pay Temple Student’s $90,000 Tuition

Lil Uzi Vert is in the headlines for a kind gesture that has been going viral on social media. The Philadelphia rapper was waltzing through the store when he was asked by a fan whether he could help cover his college tuition.

After a temporary pause, Uzi addressed the fan and a brilliant exchange took place between the two.

“Uzi! What’s good, bruh? Can you pay for my college tuition?”, Temple University student Raheel Ahmad asked the rapper, said. “Ninety grand. I go to Temple, bro.”

Lil Uzi Vert then promised he would help the student take care of his college cost, but it came with a caveat.

“Ninety grand? I could pay for that,” Uzi said. “But this is the thing, though: If I pay for your college, are you gonna finish college? Make sure you show me all of your transcripts—everything. Show me all your papers and everything, and you’ll get 90 thousand from me. I’m serious,” Uzi said. “If you don’t show me, you won’t get 90 grand from me. You gotta show me the proof.”

The entire encounter between Lil Uzi Vert and Ahmad was recorded and shared online.

Temple University, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was founded in 1884 by Baptist minister Russell Conwell, who moved to Pennsylvania to lead the Grace Baptist Church. At his church, Conwell would begin tutoring students during late-night sessions in the basement of the Baptist Temple and they were dubbed the “night owls.” Eventually, Conwell switched the institution’s status to a university and the Owls became the university mascot.

Lil Uzi Vert, whose real name is Symere Woods, was born on July 31, 1994. The 25-year-old has been born and raised in Philadelphia and now he’s helping others in the community.
