WATCH: Bernie Sanders, Cardi B Discuss Jobs, Healthcare, Police Brutality & More

Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders and hip hop star Cardi B joined forces for a campaign video aimed at young voters. The conversation between the two has been teased for weeks, and on Thursday, August 15, the full video dropped. The video features Cardi B interviewing the Senator on a number of major issues like jobs, healthcare and police brutality.

Cardi B has long been outspoken about her support of Bernie Sanders, so the video allowed her to introduce the candidate to her fan base and to give him a major platform to share his views with younger voters.

“I’m trying to advocate for the youth in my community because I feel like there’s a serious problem right now in America,” the Bronx rapper said. “We have this bully as a president. And the only way to take him out is somebody winning.”

Sanders had previously shared his appreciation for Cardi B during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel.

“I know her,” Sanders said. “We have talked on the phone on several occasions. She is really smart and she is deeply concerned about what’s happening in this country. That’s the truth. She comes from a humble background and she knows what it’s like to live in poverty, to struggle, and she wants to make sure that we can improve life for working people in this country. I’m delighted that she is a supporter.”

One of the main topics of conversation was police brutality, and Sanders, who was giving the interview at a nail salon in Detroit, said that police officers have to be held more accountable.

“Obviously, we need to end all forms of racism in this country from Donald Trump down the local police department. We have something like one out of four young black men in this country end up in the criminal justice system,” Senator Sanders said. “If a police officer kills somebody, that killing must be investigated by the United States Department of Justice.”
