Outside Lands 2019 Festival to Allow Use & Sale of Weed

The Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival in San Francisco, California just got a little more interesting. On Wednesday, August 7, the state of California approved a permit for the festival that will allow the use and sale of weed on festival grounds. The permit was approved by the state Bureau of Cannabis Control, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“Permitting Grass Lands as the inaugural event is the first step in creating a safe cannabis event space for those aged 21 years and older,” said Marisa Rodriguez, director of the San Francisco Office of Cannabis. “Attendees will be able to purchase and consume lab-tested products away from the rest of the venue’s attendees.”

Of course, there will be some restrictions.

The consumption of marijuana will be limited to a fenced-off area on the festival grounds and anyone wishing to use or purchase the cannabis must be at least 21 years old.

Democratic state Senator Scott Weiner was one of the San Francisco politicians in support of the permit being approved.

“Cannabis is part of our culture — particularly at music festivals — and it makes sense to allow people to obtain it legally,” Wiener said. “We need to move past prohibition, which doesn’t work.”

Outside Lands will take place August 9 through August 11 at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Some of the big-name acts include Childish Gambino, Paul Simon, Lil Wayne, Blink 182, Kacey Musgraves, Anderson .Paak, Twenty One Pilots, The Lumineers, and more. And with the legal marijuana consumption, you know that all of the acts are going to sound even better when they take the stage.
