Megan Rapinoe had quite the 24 hours. On Sunday, July 7, the USWNT star and co-captain scored the first of two goals in the United States women’s national team’s 2-0 victory over the Netherlands at Parc Olympique Lyonnais in Décines-Charpieu, France en route to the USA’s fourth women’s World Cup title.
Along with the world championship, Rapinoe was awarded the Golden Boot for most goals during the tournament and awarded the Golden Ball as the best player in the 2019 Women’s World Cup.
After the victory, the USWNT had an epic celebration that spilled into the locker room.
There was plenty of dancing — including a viral Alex Morgan twerk video — and chanting as the women documented excitement on social media. But they weren’t done partying just yet.
Once the locker room celebration was a wrap, the team hit the local bars which led to another viral celebration video. This time, it was Rapinoe who was front and center.
Rapinoe hopped up onto the bar, popped some champagne, and sprayed everyone in sight as she partied like a rockstar.

And here is the video.
While the competition in France is over, the USWNT still faces a battle ahead as they return home to the states and continue their fight for equal pay. Now that they have a fourth World Cup title, their fight can continue and they have a stronger case than ever before.
“At this moment of tremendous pride for America, the sad equation remains all too clear, and Americans won’t stand for it anymore,” U.S. women’s players association said in a statement, via ESPN. “These athletes generate more revenue and garner higher TV ratings, but get paid less simply because they are women. It is time for the federation to correct this disparity once and for all.”
