Jorge Masvidal’s five-second knockout of Ben Askren at UFC 239 has some competition for the most violent KO of the weekend thanks to a violent collision involving Jake Marisnick of the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Angels catcher Jonathan Lucroy.
The two teams were tied at 10 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning at Minute Made Park in Houston with bases loaded when Marisnick tried to put the Astros ahead.
That’s when Marisnick collided with Lucroy, who was attempting to field a throw. Lucroy immediately fell to his back and was unconscious with blood streaming from his nose. Lucroy was eventually carted off the field and taken to the hospital for a CT scan while also being evaluated for a possible concussion and nose fracture, according to the Angels.

Despite tagging the plate after the collision, Marisnick was called out for colliding with Lucroy.
The game eventually went to extra innings before the Astros were able to get the walk-off win in the 10th inning. With the win, the Houston Astros advance to 57-33 on the season while the Los Angeles Angels drop below .500 at 45-46.
We wish Lucroy a full and speedy recovery.
