Invicta Fighting Championship returns to Kansas City on Friday, June 7 with Invicta FC 35 live from Memorial Hall on UFC Fight Pass. The event features a flyweight contender bout between DeAnna Bennett and Karina Rodriguez fighting for a shot at Invicta FC gold.
In the co-main event, atomweights Alesha Zappitella and UFC veteran Viviane Pereira go head-to-head.
Before the event could become officials, fighters stepped onto the scale on Thursday, June 6. Surprisingly, three of the women set to compete on Friday night came in over their contracted weights, causing them to forfeit 25 percent of their purse from the event. The three women who missed their marks were Viviane Pereira, Faith McMah, and Kelly D’Angelo. D’Angelo missed her mark by the most, missing by three pounds.
Invicta FC 35 officially kicks off at 8:00 p.m. ET on UFC Fight Pass. The bout for the next women’s flyweight title contender came after Bennett and Rodriguez won their opening bouts in a four-woman flyweight tournament. The winner will go on to challenge current champion Vanessa Porto.
