Last Night's 'Game of Thrones' Featured A MASSIVE Production Error

While Game of Thrones has long been known for their pristine production design, those in charge seem to be getting a little sloppy as the iconic Emmy Award-winning series winds down.

WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS FOR ‘GAME OF THRONES’ SEASON 8, EPISODE 4 WILL FOLLOW.

In the fourth episode of the final season of Game of Thrones — “The Last of the Starks” — eagle-eyed fans noticed a modern-day Starbucks cup casually sitting in front of Daenerys Targaryen as she sat at the head of the table in Winterfell’s Great Hall during one of the show’s opening scenes.
Given that Game of Thrones made a name for itself due it’s intricate plotting, writing, costuming, and set design, it’s frankly shocking to see such a glaring and obvious error in one of the series’ final episodes.

While the error is ultimately harmless, haters will be quick to reason that the Starbucks Cup Slip is yet another example of the Game of Thrones writers turning a once prestige drama into a blockbuster mess.

That said, how on Earth this clip got past various stages of writers, directors, producers, and executives without ONE of them noticing the white Starbucks cup in the background is beyond me.
However, who knows … maybe this is a purposeful play from the Game of Thrones powers-that-be. Maybe next week Daenerys will show up to the Battle of King’s Landing in Lululemons, Tyrion starts drinking 2004 chardonnays, and Jon Snow shows up to battle with a fresh shape-up. Perhaps the *nig twist* at the end of Game of Thrones is that it actually takes place in the year 2034.
Or maybe the Game of Thrones writers are so fixated on sticking the landing that they accidentally missed over some tiny details along the way.

The eighth and final season of HBO’s Emmy Award-winning fantasy drama ‘Game of Thrones’, which first premiered on Sunday, April 17, 2011, will conclude it’s epic eight-season run on Sunday, May 19, 2019.
