Here’s the official synopsis for Spider-Man: Far From Home:
“Peter Parker’s relaxing European vacation takes an unexpected turn when Nick Fury suddenly shows up in his hotel room. Parker soon finds himself donning the Spider-Man suit to help Fury stop the evil Mysterio from wreaking havoc across the continent.”
Spider-Man: Far From Home, the 23rd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the first film after Avengers: Endgame, will officially hit theaters on Friday, July 2, 2019.
Similar to last year’s Ant-Man & The Wasp, Spider-Man: Far From Home seems poised to serve as a palet-cleanser following the high-stakes intensity of Avengers: Endgame.
Given that this is the first film in the MCU following the events of Avengers: Endgame, the presence of the late Tony Stark is prevalent immediately in the trailer.
Spider-Man: Far From Home also sees one of the world’s best working actors join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Jake Gyllenhaal is set to star as Quentin Beck / Mysterio.
While the trailer initially positions Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio as an ally of the good guys, we have a sliiiiight feeling that won’t remain the case throughout the course of the movie.
In addition to Tom Holland as Spider-Man and Jake Gyllenhaal as Quentin Beck / Mysterio, Spider-Man: Far From Home also stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, and Maria Tomei as Aunt May Parker.
