Emily Reeve has been identified as the 27-year-old Huntsville Intermediate School teacher that was arrested for driving while intoxicated on Saturday, April 20.
According to the office of Prosecuting Attorney Matthew Durret, Reeve was stopped by a Madison County Sheriff’s officer around 6:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, April 20 — a common marijuana holiday known as “Four-Twenty”.
Police say that Reeve was stopped after she drove past the Madison County Jail at what was described as a “high rate of speed”, according to KNWA.
The report from the Madison County Sheriff’s office indicates that as the officer was in pursuit, Reeve crossed the center line and almost struck another car.
After eventually pulling Reeve over in a high school parking lot, the arresting officer noted that he smelt alcohol on Reeve’s breath and that she “stumbled” as she attempted to exit her vehicle.
Following her arrest, Reeve was arrested and taken to the Madison County Jail that she had been seen speeding past. Once at the jail, she was administered a blood alcohol content test that showed her BAC was at .20, which is more than twice the Arkansas state limit of .08.
Reeve has since been charged with five separate misdemeanor charges: driving left of center, drug fraud, first-degree driving while intoxicated, and endangering the welfare of a minor.
At the time of this writing, the Huntsville School District has yet to provide an official statement on Reeve’s arrest or her current employment status at Huntsville Intermediate School.
