Early reports gunmen “opened fire” in the French city of Tourcoing on Wednesday, April 24, according to the Daily Star.
Police and the army reportedly responded to the scene. Additionally, the French police unit RAID were also on the scene. The gunmen, who were on the run at the time of this writing, were reportedly masked and armed.
There is no word on the number of injuries or fatalities at this time. Similarly, there is no indication of whether the gunfire was crime or terror-related.
Daily Star reports that the unidentified gunmen entered a shisha cafe around 4:30 p.m. local time and began to open fire.
Photos and videos tweeted from the scene showed up to five masked male gunmen wearing dark colored clothing.
Tourcoing, which has a population of approximately 94,000 people, is a city in northern France on the border of Belgium.
