Sol Pais, the 18-year-old South Florida teenager at the center of an FBI manhunt after allegedly making a threat against Denver-area schools, is dead, investigators confirmed. Police say that Pais died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
As a result of Pais’ death, Federal Bureau of Investigation officials confirmed that there is no longer a present threat of violence against Colorado schools.

While original reports indicated that Pais was captured, new reports indicate she has died during the manhunt.
At this time, it is unclear how exactly Pais died.
According to reports, Pais was found by authorities in the woods near the Echo Lake Campground in the Arapaho National Forest, Colorado.
SWAT team members from the FBI and Clear Creek County responded to the area following tips from civilians.
What Did Sol Pais Do?
On Monday, April 15, Pais flew from Southern Florida to Colorado and purchased a pump-action shotgun upon arrival. Pais, who was reportedly obsessed with the 1999 Columbine High School mass shooting, then made a threat that prompted over 20 schools to be locked down.
Additionally, over half a million students missed school on Wednesday, April 16, due to precautionary closures as a result of Pais’ threats.
Pais’ credible threat against the Denver-area schools came just a few days before the 20-year anniversary of the Columbine High School mass shooting that happened on April 20, 1999.
Speaking CBS 4 Miami behind a closed door at his Surfside, Florida, home, Pais’ unnamed father described the situation as “a bad dream” and indicated that his daughter Sol may have a “mental problem.”
“It’s like a bad dream. We don’t know. We don’t have any ideas,” Pais’ distressed father said.
Pais threats against Colorado schools came just a few days ahead of the 20tg anniversary of the infamous Columbine High School mass shooting that resulted in the deaths of 12 students and 1 teacher.
