Is Gronk Joining The WWE?

On Sunday, March 24, New England Patriots Pro Bowl tight end Rob Gronkowski — arguably the greatest tight end in the history of the NFL — took to Instagram to announce his retirement from professional football after 9 glorious seasons in the National Football League.
However, unlike most retirees and similar to the likes of Michael Strahan and Pat McAfee, Gronk’s personality and brand will open more post-career doors for him than the majority of ex-NFL players.
That said, while most ex-professional athletes transition to play-by-play broadcasting or podcasting, Gronk’s post-football career path has an option unlike any we’ve ever seen from an ex-NFL star of his stature: the WWE.

A seemingly match made in heaven, Gronk — who is good friends with WWE star Mojo Rawley — has dabbled in professional wrestling before as he appeared at WrestleMania 33 back in 2017.
And as our brothers over at Busted Coverage pointed out, WWE Raw just so happens to be taping in Boston the day after Gronk announced his career-altering decision.

So while nothing official between Rob Gronkowski and the World Wrestling Entertainment company has been announced just yet, the two seems like a perfect pairing for each other in Gronk’s post-football life.
Gronk wouldn’t be the first former elite professional athlete to make the jump to wrestling, as former UFC women’s champion Ronda Rousey signed a contract with the WWE back in 2018.
Rousey, the current Raw Women’s Champion, will be a part of the first all-female headlining event at Wrestlemania 35.
