While the Academy Awards is usually a dull ceremony, this year’s Oscars were particularly brutal due to both the lack of a host and the lacklusterness of the nominees.
In a year where a decent Rami Malek won Best Actor for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in a shockingly below-average Bohemian Rhapsody and Green Book won Best Picture despite being essentially hated by everyone I talk to, the most entertaining part of the night was the commercials that aired in between the awkward ceremony, particularly ones involving some upcoming movies.
Whether it be another fresh look at Disney’s upcoming and sure-to-be earthshattering live-action remake of The Lion King or HBO teasing another glimpse at Game Of Thrones final season, some heavy hitters were teased during this year’s Academy Awards, so we decided to gather the best trailers from the night all in one place.
The Lion King
While Disney has been slinging these live-action remakes for quite a while now, it can be argued that The Lion King is the biggest one yet.
Plus, given the early reaction that Will Smith’s horrifying Genie seems to be receiving, Disney might need a home run following the potential disaster of Aladdin.
Also, The Lion King song just hits different.

The Irishman
Dropping a trailer with nothing but text and a voice over is the cockiest of cocky moves, but that’s what you can do when you have a project that features the likes of Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, and Harvey Keitel being directed by Martin Scorsese.

HBO (Game Of Thrones)
While this one didn’t air during The Oscars per se, it did air on HBO while The Oscars were on, so that counts enough for us.
In addition to the Game Of Thrones clip, the HBO trailer also included sneak peaks for upcoming projects such as Watchmen, His Dark Materials, Euphoria, Mrs. Fletcher, and The Righteous Gemstones
