A video posted online on Monday, January 21 shows a white man in South Florida pulling a gun on a group of black teenagers and repeatedly calling them the N-word during a protest against gun violence on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The man has been identified as 51-year-old Mark Allen Bartlett. He was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed firearm, according to 7News.
Police have arrested Bartlett after a viral video appeared to show him and woman in a heated confrontation with bicyclists taking part in the annual “Wheels Up, Guns Down” protest.
The incident happened Monday afternoon in Miami’s Brickell district, according to the Florida civil rights group Dream Defenders, which posted the footage on its Twitter account.
In the video, a woman is seen upset at the group of bicyclists blocking the roadway.
“Please move your bikes,” the woman is heard repeatedly telling the group. “I have kids I need to pick up!”
A separate video showed the woman accusing one of the teenagers of running over her foot. “You just ran over my foot with your tire!”
The riders were protesting being displaced from the Liberty Square area.
Things then escalated when Bartlett ran up to the group with a pistol in his hand.
“Who did it?! Who did it?!” he asked before confronting one of the teens.
“Get the f**k out of here, you f***ing losers. You f***ing stupid n*****s. You’re all f***ing dumb-ass f***ing n*****s.”
