Melissa Gentz, a pre-medical student at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, says she currently suffers from PTSD three months after she was allegedly domestically abused.
According to reports, Gentz says she is suffering from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) three months after her 25-year-old boyfriend — billionaire heir Erick Bretz — allegedly assaulted her in September.
Following the alleged incident — which reportedly happened in Bretz’s Tampa Bay apartment on September 23 –Bretz was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic battery by strangulation and tampering with a witness.
Gentz took to Instagram, where she has over 200,000 followers, to post photos of her face following the alleged assault by Bretz.

“You know how we usually have a side of our face that we prefer more than the other? I like my left side. Unfortunately, it’s the side that was severely bruised by violence. Today was the first day in which I felt like passing some mascara and blush on the right side of my face… I won’t hide the marks of my story because NO woman should feel ashamed of feel blamed for being a victim of domestic violence.”
However, Gentz has still been sued by the family, as Bretz’s lawyers claim that the 25-year-old is innocent.

His [Bretz] attorney Larry T. McMillan shared a court filing showing Bretz is charged only with domestic battery by strangulation and a court official tells PEOPLE that is because prosecutors chose only to pursue that one charge.
McMillan and attorney David A. Donet Jr., of Miami, said Bretz was “eager” to prove his innocence in court. He pleaded not guilty on Sept. 27, online records show.
Bretz, who has made headlines through the years as a competitor on the Motocross championship circuit in Brazil, hails from one of country’s richest families and his father owns a large supermarket chain there, according to Brazilian newspaper O Tempo.
Additionally, Bretz’s lawyers have called the reports of abuse “fake news”, saying in a statement that “what has been portrayed in the media is not an accurate or a complete version of the facts and physical evidence.”
At the time of this writing, the case against Bretz is still pending in Florida court.
