32-year-old Mohamed Mohamed has been arrested in connection with a possible hate crime assault that allegedly took place in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles on Friday, November 23.
What Happened?
According to reports, Mohamed was heard making anti-Semitic remarks after he tried to run over two people near a synagogue in a Jewish neighborhood near La Brea and Oakwood Avenue.
Witnesses at the scene say that Mohamed attempted to hit pedestrians with his car, but missed, causing him to turn around to try and hit them again. After Mohamed missed a second time, he hit another vehicle as he fled the scene, totaling both cars.
Following the attack, there was no word of any serious injuries. Mohamed was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon on Monday, November 26, and was being held on $55,000 bail.
None of the potential victims have been identified.

Security footage provided to CBS2 showed the car in question making a hard U-turn and driving at the men.
“We both scrambled in different directions, so he slammed on his brakes and obviously missed us, thank God,” said the man, who asked to remain anonymous.
Cameras then caught the car reversing course and trying to strike the men again.
“He clearly was going at us, and it was even more clear on round two,” the victim said.
The intersection where the alleged attack took place has two synagogues. It also happened on the Sabbath, where many Jewish people are walking in traditional attire.
“Why he chose us?” the victim asked. “Probably because of the yarmulkes on our heads.”
At the time of this writing, the Los Angeles Police Department is still investigating whether to treat the incident as a hate crime, which would potentially add additional charges.
