Liddell and Ortiz first met at UFC 47 on April 2, 2004 in Las Vegas. Liddell was able to steamroll Ortiz en route to a second-round knockout victory. The rematch was another big win for Liddell at UFC 66 on December 30, 2006. The bout earned Fight of the Night honors as Liddell made his fourth consecutive defense of his UFC light heavyweight title.
“The Iceman” last fought at UFC 115 against Rich Franklin on June 12, 2010. It marked the third consecutive knockout loss for Liddell and his fifth loss in six outings.
Ortiz, meanwhile, has stayed more active following his UFC career by signing with Bellator MMA. During his time in Bellator, Ortiz holds a 3-1 record with his lone loss coming to Liam McGeary in a Bellator light heavyweight championship bout. In his most recent bout at Bellator 170 on January 21, 2017, Ortiz secured a rear-naked choke victory over Chael Sonnen at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
