Jeffrey Flake, born on December 31, 1962, is an American politician who serves as the senior United States Senator for Arizona. Flake was first elected to the seat in 2012.
Prior to being a United States Senator, Flake was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 2001 to 2013.
Previously serving as Arizona’s junior Senator, Flake became Arizona’s senior Senator following the death of John McCain. In 2017, he announced he would not be running for re-election in 2018.

Flake was elected to the United States Senate in 2012. Flake was also one of the bi-partisan “Gang of Eight” that pushed through a Senate immigration-reform bill in 2013. He is known as a vocal critic of President Donald Trump, but votes overwhelmingly in line with Trump’s position.
In October 2017, Flake announced that he would not be seeking reelection in 2018. Following the death of Senator John McCain, Flake became Arizona’s senior U.S. Senator.
In September 2018, Senator Flake was a crucial figure in the Senate Judiciary Committee’s confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
