The Netflix hit series “Last Chance U” is returning for a fourth season. On Wednesday, it was announced that the docuseries will return to Netflix in Summer 2019 for a second straight year at Independence Community College in Kansas. The series, which was nominated for a Sports Emmy for Outstanding Serialized Sports Documentary, spent its first two years at East Mississippi Community College.
The Pirates are led by head coach Jason Brown.
“Coach [Jason] Brown has recruited a number of players this season who have compelling back stories and it seems the Jayhawk conference as a whole has seen a surge in recruiting,” executive producer Greg Whiteley said in a statement,” via Sports Illustrated.
“As such, we feel that a return trip to Kansas is warranted. After visiting the ICC campus last week and meeting the new players, I think Season 4 could be our best season yet.”
The Pirates won the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference championship and scored a win over Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in the Midwest Bowl, finishing with a 9-2 record. This year, they will look to replicate their success in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference while hoping to compete for a national championship.
Independence Community College plays its home games at Emmot Field. The Pirates officially kickoff their 2018 campaign on Thursday, Aug. 23 against Dodge City Community College at Memorial Stadium. Last season, Independence scored a 32-38 victory over Dodge City in the fifth game of the season.
