Lyle died on Wednesday night at his home surrounded by family, his wife Briony announced. Lyle was just 36 years old. His death came just one week after it was announced that he would be ending his treatment for acute myeloid leukemia after he “reached his limit” in his third bout with cancer in two decades. Lyle was first diagnosed with leukemia when he was 17, and cancer resurfaced in 2012 and 2017.
“It is with a heavy heart and a mountain of tears that I say a final goodbye to my friend Jarrod Lyle,” Golf Channel commentator Tripp Isenhour wrote. “For 20 years he fought this disease like no one could. Thank you for touching us all in so many wonderful ways! RIP to a champion of a human.”
Lyle wanted to spend as much time as possible with his family before it was his time to go. Our deepest condolences are with Lyle’s family and friends during this difficult time.
